Since 2005, I have been trying to work with all State Governments to have audible tactile traffic signals installed at the intersections of Dandenong/Wattletree Road in North Caulfield in Victoria as well as other major and busy small 2 lane or more intersections that don't have these devices installed in and accross Victoria as well as in other states and territories in Australia.

Blind Citizens Australia and Vision Australia advocated on my behalf in an attempt to achieve the installation of audible tactile signals at these intersections.

I ask the Victorian and other state governments accross Australia a simple request for adequate funding, now and into the future, for all traffic control signals to be fitted with audible tactile signals on all traffic signal controlled intersections and pedestrian crossing though out Victoria.

The intention of this petition is to request that the State Government and current Premier of Victoria and Victoria’s Minister for Public Transport and Minister for Roads, Minister Terry Mulder and VicRoads to immediately prioritise adequate funding to provide the installation of audible tactile pedestrian traffic signals at the intersections of Dandenong/Wattletree in North Caulfield as well as other traffic controlled intersections and roads throughout Victoria and across Australia.

This will allow blind and vision impaired, the deaf and deafblind people to safely and independently cross the road without fear of getting run over by another vehicle and getting injured or killed.
