Ricky Murphy is a great lifeguard & should not lose his job. He was terminated for leaving the beach area on his down time. On Sunday , July 23, 2017 he paddleboarded past the swim area when another lifeguard was on duty. There were only a couple people on the beach & in the water. The other lifeguard was fully capable of handling an issue if it arose. Ricky has gone above & beyond by not only keeping residents safe but also ensuring the beach is clean. He was fired without warning. If anything he should be on probation or given a week off without pay. Firing him won't help Lake Beseck. There was a reason he was given the head lifeguard position & letting him go is only going to put the residents that go to the beach in danger.
We, the middlefield residence, are requesting that Ricky Murphy be given his lifeguard duties back, effective immediately.
