"Comprehensive Plan" Village of Sylvan Beach, NY.
While not reprinted in full within this petition, the undersigned are struck by the following points relating to development within certain areas of the village.
We are left with the impression from the plan that the village is concerned with economic growth while maintaining the integrity of residential neighborhoods. The plan points to asthesics such as fencing, lighting, and shape and size of new buildings within certain neighborhoods. The plan contains provisions for improvements to streets, and parks.
The plan calls for improvements within the amusement/canal area to include but not limited to a museum, speciality shops, a marina. The plan also calls for unsightly buildings to either be rehabilitated or razed. Building codes call for respest to neighbors regarding items such as burial of electric wires and propane tanks, and the positioning of garbage cans.
It has been noted that the new business on Spencer Ave, has disregarded not only the setback limits, but has erected stages for outdoor bands as well as framework for large speakers and lights.
Neighbors were never notified of a meeting to approve of a variance for this business. We the undersigned, call on the village of Sylvan Beach to take action to ensure that residents are protected from obtrusive noise and lights.
In an effort to enjoy our investemet in the village, we request that all live band activity be limited to indoors after 9pm, and that outdoor live band activity be limited to weekends. In addition, we do not feel that the speaker/light tower is needed at all.
