Sometime between January and February this year(2017), the private organisation (Peace Corp Nigeria - PCN) called for Nigerian youths to seek employment under its employ. To qualify for the screening process, these unemployed youths were compelled to provide N45,000.
While this is not the first time PCN is engaging in such unwholesome practice, this is the most patronised, with over 300,000 Nigerian youths falling prey. Its on record that during the "camping" organised by this group, no provision was made for feeding and the accommodation was not even befitting for animals.
Most of these affected youths borrowed this money in a desperate need for gainful employment. We can't keep quiet in the face of injustice. The current Nigerian Senate has been very vigilant in tackling issues that weigh heavily on Nigerians. Let's use this petition to beg their attention on this matter.
We the undersigned call on The Nigerian Senate to compel the Peace Corp of Nigeria (PCN), to refund monies extorted from innocent Nigerians, to the tune of over 20 billion naira.
We suggest a detailed enquiry be carried out and appropriate sanctions effected.
It is pertinent to note that most of these unemployed youths borrowed these money from people and are yet able to pay back. Posterity will judge us.
