As you may know; after the awful grenfell tower incident; many tower blocks have had the cladding removed after 79+ people died. Supposedly this will cost 600m of taxpayer money.

The facts state that for fire retardant cladding it would of cost an extra £5000 per block, but due to budgetary issues with contractors they chose the dangerous option.

What I would like to know is why are we spending an estimated £3.5bn of taxpayer money on the houses of parliament? I don't belive the government need to spend that sort of money on a place to discuss what's best for everyone; when clearly they've disregarded so many people's safety and all because they couldn't fork up an extra £1.6m towards a £11.26m refurbishment, to go even further they decided to only pay £8.7m in total!

This is a completely obscene, how can they do this to then ask for £600m of our taxpayer money! Cut the renovation costs of the houses of parliament and put them towards where they are needed!

We want safe buildings, not pretty death traps or symbolic fortunes.

We, the undersigned, call on the UK government to reduce spending on the houses of parliament and that any reductions go towards the safety of tower blocks that will need cladding removed.

"Lessons will be learned". Now prove it.
