Household Goods Rental Customers call for an Immediate Urgent Inquiry Into Illegal Contracts

Household goods rental companies are illegally charging rates far in excess of the 48% they are allowed to charge for rent-to-own contracts. Contracts are sneakily designed to pretend that they are rental only contracts when they are rent-to-buy. Most of the companies do not ever collect the goods, don't have warehouses and don't sell second hand goods. People are paying 5 and more times as much as they should be paying and this can be stopped pretty much overnight without new laws, just enforcing what already exists.
We the undersigned call upon ASIC to launch an immediate inquiry into Household Goods Rental Companies and immediately order the repayment of overcharged amounts and cancel contracts where in excess of the maximum amounts have been paid.
