YES to Hatston Turbine YES to Orkney Energy Gateway

At last an opportunity for those that are for the Orkney Energy Gateway turbine to voice their support. There are many Orcadians who believe that the proposed turbine and corresponding Energy Gateway building is a must for Kirkwall - that the future of renewables depends upon it. If this turbine is denied permission then permission may be denied on similar worthwhile projects in the future.

Orkney has the ability to boost its economy by pioneering the way in which local communities take action that sets examples for the rest of the world.

Many rural communities that are at risk from factors that affect us here in Orkney, such as, young people moving from the area to find work, drop in tourist numbers, decline in oil industry which causes increased fuel prices, decline in the numbers of jobs in the farming industry and alienation from urban counterparts due to centralisation.

We believe that this turbine could provide the gateway to attract green industry to the area and allow Orcadians to secure and stabilise their own future by providing much needed jobs for those looking for work in the sector. We need to start planning for a sustainable future in Orkney now.
