In 2009 TfL widened the junction of the A2 and General Wolfe Road. This has made it easier to cut through Crooms Hill and historic Greenwich than to stay on the A2 and use the strategic road network to access central London.

Crooms Hill is of strategic importance to the community, as it borders Greenwich Park. TfL and Greenwich Council must introduce specific traffic calming measures to prevent large amounts of traffic rat-running through this residential street.

We call upon TfL and Greenwich Council to re-instate width-restriction signage, reduce the width of General Wolfe Road at its junction with the A2, and add a traffic island for pedestrians.

The pinch points on Crooms Hill need to be calibrated accurately and a priority baffle introduced further down the hill to reduce danger to pedestrians crossing into the Park.

Crooms Hill is not a main road and rat-runners should be discouraged from using it as one.
