This campaign and petition are to alert you to the potential destruction of a special stretch of the River Wylye, near Warminster. It is a SSSI and SAC and one of only a handful of chalk streams in the UK. We are campaigning to prevent a beautiful piece of green landscape, Spurt Mead, being built upon, when there are so many brownfield sites available.

Please go to the link below (copy and paste into your browser) to see a very short film we have produced. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulL9Qw-IVyk

We are not against house building; we understand the need for more homes. But we are against the destruction of greenfield sites, especially one rich in wildlife and bordering one of the country's most famous chalk streams.

Then please also email Wiltshire Council: developmentmanagement@wiltshire.gov.uk pasting the text below into your email, and signing it.

We, the undersigned call on Wiltshire Council to decline the planning application 13/06782/OUT that will cause damage to the River Wylye in Warminster.

We, the undersigned call on Wiltshire Council to decline the planning application 13/06782/OUT that will cause damage to the River Wylye in Warminster.

Furthermore we demand that Wiltshire Council works within its own planning policies for future developments and makes the use of brownfield sites and empty properties priority actions.

Where there is a risk of environmental impact we further call on Wiltshire Council to operate a no-risk policy and err on the side of caution.
