Puck Fair has been running for many years. There are many legends which suggest an origin for the Fair, many of which are wildly inventive, but there is no written record stating when the Fair started. It can however be traced back to a charter from 1603 by King James I granting legal status to the existing fair in Killorglin.
Nothing has ever been proved but only to make money from these legends. Every year a poor goat is caught and is then subjected to some time alone on a high stand. The fair holds a parade for the goat who is obviously scared but many then go on to drink the night away.
Residents from the village and nearby villages are subject then to 3 nights of noise pollution plus animals being scared by the noise, let alone the fireworks on the last night.
Puck Fair sells animals, creates noise pollution to local villages and creates a party full of drunks. This needs to be stopped.
It is nothing but a money making event with poor animals subject to being terrified.
