Stop Military Recruitment on our Campus |
5 Signatures |
Published by gordon maloney on Sep 30, 2009
Category: Justice
Region: United Kingdom
Target: The University of Aberdeen
Background (Preamble):
In February of 2009 the University of Aberdeen adopted an Ethical Investment Policy which stated that no investments would be made in companies regularly receiving more than 5% of their profits from the sale of armaments.
In August 2009, investments in three companies (BAE Systems, Babcock International and Chemring) were sold off accordingly. Military recruitment on campus, however, continues as normal.

Petition:
We, the undersigned,
Noting that the University of Aberdeen’s ethical investment policy says that it shall not invest in companies which receive more than 5% of their income from military sales, we demand that the University extends its ethical policies to contracts signed with companies recruiting on campus.
If the university won’t give the military our money, then why give them our students?
