Stop Locust Road in Placer County being closed permanently with barriers.

The closure of Locust Road in Placer County is part of the future Placer Vineyards housing development. This Placer Vineyards housing development project will NOT be starting construction for about 10 to 30 years from now. This is more about speed control and a few residents that moved out in our area with in the last 3 years complaining. I can understand the speeders If you put in speed bumps, it would eliminate those young kids wanting to drift around that corner to slow down.”

There was nothing ever sent to us or communicated to us Until a postcard went out. The road closure was pushed through by only a few residents which most live in Sacramento county and this closure would not affect them because emergency vehicle will have NO barriers to go through to get to them or the inconvenience of driving miles out of the way to get to Elverta and Rio Linda.

From what I understood from Cal Fire there would be four different locking systems for each department (Cal Fire, Sac Metro, Placer county Sherriff and Amr) to unlock the gate. They will all have separate keys to their own locks. What my concern is if there are four separate locks on this gate how is one department going to open this gate when they only have keys to open there lock. In case of an emergency are we going to have to contact all four department to meet at the gate to open it. How much longer will this add to the response time getting through the gate in case of an emergency.

There are many reasons why this road should not be closed.

1. People were not consulted about whether they wanted the road closed in the first place.
2. Closing Locust road with barriers means emergency vehicle response times are increased, putting people's lives at risk.
3. Closing Locust road will double our distance and triple our driving time when taking our kids to school, work or going into Elverta and Rio Linda.
4. The closures will force vehicles to use Baseline Rd which is already heavily congested. Starting about 6am – 9am driving west from Roseville on Baseline Rd. to the 99 freeway and again at 4pm to 6pm from the 99 freeway heading East on Baseline Rd. going to Roseville.
5. This will force vehicles onto heavily congested Baseline Rd and side roads making them more dangerous and Access to local amenities will also become more difficult and residents will have far few exit options.
