Hamden Mayor and Legislative Council are steamrolling ahead with an expensive and reckless plan for our Town Center and Town Hall in its conversion to Police Headquarters.
The schematic plans include destroying two historic buildings, compromising the architectural integrity and public purpose of our town hall, and a massive addition and parking garage.
The project is expected to total over 20 million and will inevitably be bonded and paid for by future tax hikes for Hamden residents.
SAVE TOWN HALL AND TOWN CENTER FOR THE PEOPLE OF HAMDEN!

September 2008
Recent cost estimates now put this foolish and reckless plan at over $40million dollars. Previous administration studies show that a new police station could be built for $20M (2009 dollars) and a town hall renovation can be done for $6.5 M(2010 dollars).
With an open contract, doing these 2 projects together represents a significant and growing cost penalty.
We, the undersigned, call on Mayor Craig Henrici and the Legislative Council to stop current plans for Town Hall's conversion to Police Headquarters.
We urge the mayor, council and building committees to consider other more creative and affordable options for providing new Police facilities and other avenues for restoring Hamden's Historic Town Hall.
