Nero will soon be taken from his home and placed in a private zoo. He has lived with his owner for nearly two years.
The NC Wildlife Resources Commission says that, in general, it is against the law for people to keep native wildlife as pets.
The owner bought Nero from a licensed breeder in Montana, spent thousands of dollars building a regulation cage and applied for state and federal permits to keep and exhibit his cat at his Lenoir County home.

*Due to illegitimate information surrounding this matter, I would like everyone to know that Nero was never in danger of being euthanized. Nero IS in danger of being taken from him owner and being placed in a zoo.*
We, the undersigned, call on the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission to allow the owner to keep his pet and obtain and maintain a license for the cat.
