Rutland Citizens Against Chloramine

Chloramination is extremely complex science…

And while the City of Rutland does not have many of the precursors that form NDMA (N-Nitrosodimethylamine). However, we do have the precursors that cause hundreds of toxic compounds to form using both chlorine and chloramine disinfection.

The best solution is to remove and reduce the precursors. The USEPA says: enhanced coagulation or granular activated carbon are the "Best Available Technologies" to do this… NOT chloramine.

The ammonia itself will become a precursor… forming scores of TOXIC unregulated compounds.

Just because a toxin is unregulated does it mean YOU or a water treatment professional can/should ignore it? Where is your moral compass? Where is your obligation to us taxpayers and citizens?

All that being said; real people suffer real health effects from the introduction of ammonia to the drinking water. Symptoms include: severe skin rashes, dry and scaling skin, erupting, oozing skin, skin described as having chemical burns, skin outbreak 'like hives', swollen ears, extreme fatigue, hacking coughs, sneezing, nasal congestion, itchy, burning and swollen eyes, raspy throat, peeling fingernails, stomach aches, yeast infection and ammonia toxicity from consumption, especially for those with liver, kidney or urea cycle diseases.

Real property damage occurs… water damage, damage to rubber gaskets and O-rings. Water leaks and lost water. Copper pipe pitting, lead leaching, and chrome leaching.

Environmental damage, fish kills and habitat damage.
