Region: Hong Kong
Target: Hong Kong Immigration Department
Background (Preamble):
According to the Hong Kong Legislative Council meeting on May 19, 1999, the government civil law officer of Department of Justice, Mr. Ian Wingfield, clearly and unambiguously stated:
1. "Your children born outside Hong Kong would acquire the right of abode by dint of you having been born in Hong Kong".
2. "Well, it is a series of generations. The first class of person has ROA inHong Kong is a Chinese citizen who was born here. They pass on the right of abode to their children irrespective of where their children were born or when they were born, because the parents qualified from the date of their birth in Hong Kong."
The statements were made by Civil Law Official from the Hong Kong Department of Justice. It was so clear and unambiguous for any one parent who was born in Hong Kong. We have the right to pass on our right of abode to our children who were born overseas outside of Hong Kong.

Petition:
We, the undersigned, call on the Hong Kong Immigration Department in SAR, China to return Hong Kong born citizens the civil rights to pass on our right of abode to our children born outside Hong Kong.
Do NOT be fooled by the China government or the Hong Kong Immigration Department as we know many of you were told that your children lost their right of abode because they were born after 7/1/1997 based on the Law. It is completely a lie!! They may not get SAR passport but your children do NOT lose Right of Abode for Hong Kong!!!
Make a change! Make a difference for the sake of your poor children!! They deserve the right of abode in Hong Kong regardless of where and when they were born. Why they have to be treated completely as foreigners? The existing mis-interpretation of the Law discriminates their civil rights and our civil rights as Hong Kong born citizen.
So, sign this as we are committed to make an organized movement to protest till we win! We need 2,000 names for July 1 protest in year 2010!!
