For 16 years now, law abiding firearms owners have had to put up with strict gun laws after the Port Arthur Massacre. It has been 16 years now since the Port Arthur Massacre, Its time the government and Gun Control Agencies stop using it as an excuse to keep our strict gun laws.
Statistics have shown Australian and New Zealand gun owners are among the best in the world, its time the government give something back to the law abiding firearms owners of Australia.
The law abiding firearms owners of Australia have had to put up with strict laws regarding firearm ownership and use for 16 years now. The Port Arthur Massacre was 16 years ago now and times have changed, Statistics have shown that law abiding firearms owners are among the best in the world.
Therefore, Australian firearms owners ask that the Firearms Act's 1996 and 2006 are reviewed and unnecessary restrictions on the ownership and use of semi-automatic and pump action firearms are weakened and can be used for the genuine reason of recreational hunting and sporting reasons.
Also, we ask that certain handguns certified by the states police commissioner to be available to recreational hunters who can prove they have a "Genuine Need" to possess and use a handgun in hunting activities, similar to the possession use of handguns for primary production reasons.
