Rename the Central Mindanao University Library to President Zosimo Montemayor Library

We, the undersigned petitioners, respectfully aver:

1] That we are of legal age, present and former students, present and former faculty members, present and former employees of Central Mindanao University, and other petitioners who, in one way or another, have affinity to the same;

2] That we are all aware and thankful of the significant contribution of the late President Zosimo Montemayor in the development of this academic institution, which is now one of the leading Universities not only in the Philippines, but the whole of Asia as well;

3] That President Montemayor was at the helm as Superintendent of the then Bukidnon National Agricutural School which was located in Managok, Malaybalay, Bukidnon; After World War II, he relocated the school to its present location in Musuan, Maramag, Bukidnon; and tirelessly worked until this institution became the Mindanao Agricultural College (MAC) in 1952, of which he served as the first and only President.

4] That he continued his efforts and oversaw the phenomenal growth of this prestigious institution; In1965, Mindanao Agricultural College was elevated to Central Mindanao University and he was appointed as the first President, holding this position until his retirement in 1966.

5] That the existing University Library building, which was completed in 1978, way after President Montemayor retired, continue to offer services that allow students, professors, university employees, alumni, or even outside researchers to access quality information which is what President Montemayor had envisioned;

6] That there is no better way to honor the founding President of the University than to rename the University Library to his name, and to be officially known as The President Zosimo Montemayor Library.
