The park hours are 5:00 am - 9:00 pm from March 1st through October 31st and 5:00 am - 6:00 pm November 1 through February 28th. If you are not camping, you cannot fish passed 9:00 pm. The Rangers will make you leave and can fine you 105 dollars for a park closure violation.
The Night Owl pass was a program to allow fisherman, with an additional fee, to fish after hours. Dan Brown, The superintendent of Gulf Islands National Seashore, eliminated the Night Owl program a few years ago. Mr. Brown also eliminated the trash cans, removed the lights, removed the electrical power, and fresh water on the pier all while increasing the entrance fees and limiting access to OUR park.
We, the undersigned, call on the Department of Interior, The National Park Service, and Dan Brown to reinstate the Night Owl pass at Fort Pickens.
