Pesticides are agents (including insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides) that are designed to kill living organisms.
But they don't just kill the "pest," they can harm other creatures, too. Many common chemical pesticides are dangerous and can cause ill health effects in people and wildlife.
Over time, repeated or severe exposures can lead to serious illnesses like cancer.
In order to perform their best, students need a healthy school environment. If a school relies on harmful chemical pesticides to control pests, this has been shown to lower indoor air quality and negatively impact the learning environment.
Pesticides should only be used as a last resort or in case of an emergency infestation!
I support Hamilton International Middle School students and their work to create a pesticide free school to protect children's health and the health of others.
