Many years were spent trying to convince the Federal Government to approve full NDSS and Prostheses Funding for a tubeless insulin pump.
Unfortunately while only full NDSS and part Prostheses funding was agreed to it left a substantial payment gap for the end users compared to "tethered" insulin pumps which the market could not bear.
Despite a Price Waterhouse Coopers cost effectiveness study being conducted by the Federal Government, none of the alternate costing options where considered.
Correspondence received directly from both the Chair of the Prostheses List Advisory Committee (PLAC) and the First Assistant Secretary of the Pharmaceutical Access Branch clearly outlined specific policy criteria that prevented funding on the Prostheses List.
However, certain interferences caused disruption to Federal Government undertakings to provide full funding.
These 2,269 people would like a change in the Federal Government funding policy to enable tubeless insulin pumps to be funded.
