The first thing I'm going to bring up about why marijuuana should be legal is that there is no good reason for it not to be legal.
Every year we (the new zealand people) spend millions imprisoning cannabis users and for what? marijuana has never caused 1 death, nobody has ever smoked a few joints and then randomly decided they might go on a killing spree. There has not been 1 recorded case of cancer from marijuana use unlike other LEGAL substances. There have also been zero cases of proven long-term effects on the brain.
So why else? marijuana could save the economy in America illegal marijuana use brings in a massive 7 billion dollars imagine what could be achieved with legalized marijuana.
Marijuana could save the environment, Hemp from marijuana is a very, very valuable natural resource, in fact hemp paper can be recycled over 8 times, regular paper from trees can only be recycled about 3 times just imagine how many millions of company's, schools and homes use paper each year, strong cheap durable clothes can also be produced from hemp, it also produces oils. Just imagine how many trees we wouldn't have to cut down and how much less we'd fill the landfills with paper if we used hemp products.
"Don't use marijuana it'll ruin your life" pfffft is it really that or the fact that high school children, workers and university students are being heavily fined, sent to prison or expelled for possession of cannabis. People of all backgrounds are being effected by the illegality of cannabis, black, white, men, woman, children, elderly, lawyers, janitors, smokers, non-smokers...you, the tax payer.
Help the cause. With every signing we get closer and closer to legalising something which never should've been illegal in the first place.
