My nephew Joshua Carrillo was struck by a car on May5, 2014 and the suspect left the scene of the accient. Joshua has to broken knees and a shattered foot. Joshua has a long road of recovery and physical therepy ahead of him and his legs will probably never be the same.
My sister was informed that leaving the scene of an accident in the state of Massachusetts is a misdameanor. This just doesn't feel like the punishment fits the crime.
We would like Massachusetts Legislation to review the current law and take action in making changes that would result in the law being a person could be charged with a felony for leaving the scene of an accident that causes bodily injury to another person. We the people of Massachusetts want a law passed that leaving the scene of an accident is a felony and you can be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
