Age discrimination, an act that is taking over the United States of America and sweeping the country nationwide. "One hit wonders" are all we refer to when looking at the "older" singers. Speaking towards the Country Music industry.
Why is it that we no longer hear the older singers such as; Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, and most importantly to me, Dolly Parton? Why is it that we can only hear these outstanding singers when we turn on satelite radio? What if we do not have satelite radio? Try comparing today's music to the older music, there is just no comparison. Today's country music sounds more like Pop than country.
Back in the day country music involved an old guitar, a violin, and a singer. That is all you could basically hear. These days the electric guitar, drums, and bass take over the singers voice and overpowers the song. They are not enjoyable like that.
I am focusing on getting Dolly Parton, the "queen of country music" back on radio stations across the United States. Dolly Parton recently released a new album on June 28, 2011 titled Better Day. Her first single from that album, Together You and I, written and recorded by Dolly herself was NOT played on radio stations. I personally called all the country radio stations here in Colorado and one in California and they all said the same thing; "We do not play music that far back" or "We do not play Dolly's music" or "She does not have any new music out does she?" or "We only play NEW music."
The people running the radio stations have no idea Dolly Parton has new music out. So is she getting promoted? No. Is her music and/or songs topping the charts? No. Is she making a break on countdowns of the hottest songs? No. Simply because she has no air-time on the radio. That needs to end here.
We, the undersigned, call on the Country Music Radio Stations to stop age-discrimination on older country singers, specifically in this case, Dolly Parton.
Older singers, usualy above the age of 55 or higher have been banned nor played on country radio stations.
Some country music artists such as; Dolly Parton, are still coming out with new material that is hardly getting noticed because she is not getting her songs or newly released singles air time on the radio.
I want age-discrimination against Dolly Parton to end today, and to have her back on the radio singing her newly released hits.
