I am asking for everyone's help! I am appealing the decision to have the complaint on Mya dismissed. I am starting a petition to #FreeMya. Anyone and/or Everyone that has ever been to my home, has met my dog and been around her. I am asking for you to sign this petition to help clear Mya's record and have the "Dangerous Order" lifted. I will come around to collect signatures. I am going to pull every picture I have of her with anyone ever.. including kids and hope/plan to have a signature to back up each and every picture.
Without the appeal I have two choices.. To register her as a "dangerous dog" and pay $250 a year for a "dangerous dog license" and get a fence. Problem with that is I am not allowed to put up a fence where I live. Or to give her away and whomever she goes to would have to comply with the same guidelines. If I can't beat the appeal, put up a fence, or give her away (which really isn't an option for me).. The county will keep her and put her to sleep. I am asking for everyone's help!! Please comment and share! I want to thank everyone in advance. I have had Mya for 5 1/2 years and won't give up without a fight. PLEASE HELP!
For those of you who would like to know before signing… this happened while Mya was being dog sat by my neighbor because I was out of town and my air-conditioner broke... She was left alone with a 14-year-old and a six-year-old (that she knows and loves) when a bad man walked out and startled her.. Which in reaction she bit him. It's still hard for me to believe but that's the story I was given. Since then the man that was bit but death threats on me and I have a six-month protective order.
If I didn't love and trust and truly believe in my heart that she's the best dog ever I wouldn't be fighting so hard. For the animal lovers out there, you know that your dog is like a child.. and I feel like I failed her. I've had her since the time Lindsay was 3 1/2 and not a doubt in my mind that she would ever hurt my kids or any kids or any person who she trusts.
I live alone with my two children and as a dog she protects us. That's what she was doing. For those that said they would sign please let me know when and where I can meet you. Her 10 days is up on Friday and I'd like to have the petition along with my appeal submitted by then.
***UPDATE***
First I want to say THANK YOU to each and every person that has signed, shared, and continued to support my mission #FREEMYA !!! So far we have 548 signatures from people all over the US and all over the country! Every time I go on and read the comments, I cry over the kind words and amazing support. As of today 7/21 Mya is still being held in "doggy jail" by AACo. Animal control. I was given 9 stipulations that all must be met, inspected and approved in order to bring Mya home. With amazing support I am in the process of meeting all of those stipulations. My hope is to have Mya home this week but still under the "dangerous dog" status. My appeal date is August 3rd in which I have to plead the case in front of the animal control board. This is where the petition will be NEEDED.. Along with notorized letters from family, friends, and neighbors. As well as myself and a few close family and friends to appear as witnesses. I truly can't thank everyone enough and no words can express my deep and sincere gratitude! The more signatures the better so please keep it going!! I will continue to update everyone. Thank you again and again!!! Mission #FREEMYA is in full effect and I will continue to fight for my family!!
Thank you everyone for your support!!
We, the undersigned, appeal the Anne Arundel Co. Animal Control's decision to consider "Mya" (Owner, Megan Dixon) a "dangerous dog".
