We, the signatories of this petition, call on the Cuban Government to immediately and unconditional release Dr. Oscar Elías Biscet from an unjust jail sentence on the grounds that he is a prisoner of conscience detained for peacefully attempting to exercise his right to freedom. As international citizens, we are concerned with the physical and mental well being of Dr. Biscet, as well as fair treatment for all Cuban human rights activists. Amnesty International has declared Dr. Biscet a prisoner of conscience, and respected human rights organizations like Physicians for Human Rights, & Human Rights Watch, have also championed the cause of Dr. Biscet. By signing this petition I am protesting the unjust detainment of Dr. Biscet, which is in direct violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights mainly article 5 which states: No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment'.
