We feel that the new slide show version of announcements is less effective than the orginal version of stating them over the intercom. For example, some teachers do not even show the announcements to their 1st block class. This causes students to not be informed of activities and meetings they should attend that week.
Also the slide show has to be played a numerous amount of time. This is due to students being unaware that it's being played and because the slides go to fast and you can't read everything the first time. And lastly it takes away from the updates from clubs and sport's team in our school. With the Slide show we cannot announce the highlights from softball games or congratulate the students who placed in the most recent DECA competition.
Overall we as students feel that the slide show announcements are more of a hassel than good for our school. It causes uninformed students, takes up more class time, and takes away the chance for a little acknowledgment.
The members of Student Council would like to ask for your support by signing our petition to bring back the daily announcements over the intercom.
