The Royal Wedding plans didn’t include Fairtrade & Fairmined gold, as Welsh gold was chosen instead but the future is looking bright for this new Fairtrade product.

Fairtrade and Fairmined gold, recently launched on Valentine’s Day, empowers small-scale and artisanal miners. Globally there are 100 million people who depend directly or indirectly on small-scale and artisanal mining, the communities are characterised by high levels of poverty, trapped in unfair supply chains and struggle to get a fair price for the gold they mine.
Fairtrade and Fairmined certification offers an opportunity for these gold miners to earn a fair price for their gold, gaining dignity and rights by being involved in this recognised system.
As the future King and Queen celebrate the start of their life together, choosing Fairtrade and Fairmined gold would symbolise not only their commitment to each other, but also to the future of small and artisanal miners in the developing world.
