Our campaign is to save the lives of thousands of lost and homeless animals by having Mayor Villaraigosa appoint a No Kill General Manager for the city of Los Angeles. Each year thousands of potentially adoptable animals are killed and the appointment of a compassionate General Manager could significantly decrease the killing.

In Los Angeles the 2008 animal service statistical report cites 19,617 dogs and cats were euthanized while only 26,285 were adopted. This was a 30% increase from the year before. These statistics highlight the high kill rates of the LA shelters.

Currently many shelters in the United States are No Kill or moving towards no Kill, notably in large cities like San Fransisco and New York City. By having the Mayor appoint a No Kill director shelters in the LA area will move closer to a goal of No Kill.
