Over the last year, a number of disturbing facts have come to light regarding the Trail Ridge Landfill expansion. The situation warrants a conflict of interest investigation.
Jacksonville (FL) City Council Vice President Jack Webb was one of the most vocal proponents of sending the landfill expansion to a public bid process. Republic Services has made it very clear that they want to operate the landfill and have made many offers and promises to the City that, once the project goes to bid, Republic will be the best choice for this contract.
And now it's become clear - Jack Webb has business connections with Republic. Jack Webb and Republic Services appear very much to be working together to influence the City Council to make a decision that benefits Jack Webb & Republic.

We, the undersigned, believe that the City Council of the City of Jacksonville, Florida have a clear duty to ensure that any contract between the City and a corporation must be to the benefit of the taxpayers, and that the contract bid process must be fair for all.
To ensure that these standards are met with regards to the Trail Ridge Landfill, we request that the City investigate conflicts of interest that have been alleged during the bid process. If those conflicts are established, appropriate action should be taken.
We thank you for your consideration.
