Background (Preamble):
Godre'rGraig Community Primary School is a thriving village school achieving good standards of education, with rising pupil role and good financial management. It is an important part of the community it serves and is the only English medium school serving the North of the Swansea Valley within Neath Port Talbot.
Despite this, Neath Port Talbot Council have passed a proposal to close Godre'rGraig Community Primary School and replace it with a remodelled school 2 miles further south down the valley.

Petition:
We the undersigned urge Neath and Port Talbot County Borough Council to reconsider their proposal to close Godre'rgraig Community School. This school meets all the criteria of the Education Directorate's definition of a good school in all four areas of concern.
Godre'graig is a successful, progressive school with a significant rising roll in pupils, in contradiction to the school improvement programme report.
The closure of Godre'rgraig school would deny parents their right of school choice, deny pupils secure continuity of schooling and the local community their only public social amenity.
