The Sri-Lankan government is notorious in its treatment of the struggling Tamils. There is a long chain of human right abuses and murders. Despite this, the UK government still deports Tamil Asylum seekers back to Sri-Lanka. In doing so, the home office is complicit in those atrocities.
Recently, a general hunger strike have started in deportation centres across the UK. an estimated 69 Tamil nationals on their way to be deported have taken this radical step as a last stand and an attempt to save their lives.
We stand in solidarity with our comrades in detention centres, we support their struggle and will continue to do so until justice is served and all Tamil nationals are granted asylum in the UK.
We refuse to be complicit in this murder; and so, as a gesture of our support, we will go on a single day hunger strike as part of an on going campaign for justice and compassion to win over economic growth institutional racism.
We, the undersigned, pledge to stand in solidarity with the Tamil nationals on hunger strike in various deportation centers across the UK.
We pledge to participate in a mass one day hunger strike on Sunday the 5th of August in demand for All Tamil asylum seekers to be recognized as being in a very real danger if deported and be granted asylum immediately.
