While Canadian creativity and achievement in the arts is known the world over, for decades some of the most talented Canadian artists, in all fields of the arts, have had to leave Canada and seek larger markets in Europe, the United States and elsewhere in order to make a living.
Most artists who choose to remain in Canada must struggle to make ends meet and frequently have to have a second non-art income in order to survive.
In short the incomes of Canadian artists in no way reflect their importance to Canadian culture and society. This petition seeks to remedy that situation.

We, the undersigned, wish to express our support for the statement at http:// crp.publicbroadcasting.ca/statement.html and agree that a tax exemption, for low and moderate income artists, on income from art and a five hundred dollar individual tax write off on Canadian arts and culture activities and products would be of great benefit to Canadian society, culture, the Canadian economy, and the daily lives of average Canadians.
