I disagree utterly.

Most people should be aware that in most cases the on board staff will take into account sensible excuses, gethting on the wrong train (and having a ticket for a different train) will usually be ignored - as long as your ticket wasn't massively reduced because you bought a ticket for a specific seat on a specific seat.
Moreover, there really isn't an excuse for not having a ticket anymore, you can buy online, from ticket machines, the ticket office or by having a pre-paid season ticket. Indeed
